„European Debate Club“ des Gymnasium Lehrtes erreicht das nationale Finale

Das European Youth Parliament (EYP) ist ein Verband, der Jugendlichen aus ganz Europa die Chance bietet, europapolitisch wichtige Fragen zu erörtern und die parlamentarischen Abläufe durch entsprechende Simulationen kennenzulernen. Wir konnten als Delegation unserer Schule an der Regionalen Auswahlsitzung teilnehmen, nachdem unsere Bewerbungsresolution einen guten Eindruck hinterlassen hatte.

Von einer Jury wurde die Delegation des Gymnasium Lehrtes, die sich aus sieben Schülerinnen und Schülern des European Debate Clubs zusammensetzt, als eine von insgesamt nur dreien dazu ausgewählt, in die nächste Runde aufzusteigen: ein großer Erfolg.

Wir freuen uns darauf, das außergewöhnliche Erlebnis wiederholen zu können und freuen uns auf die National Selection Session im Juni in Wiesbaden!

Die Auswahlsitzung fand in den Räumlichkeiten der Berufsschule Berta Jourdan und im Dominikanerkloster in Frankfurt am Main statt und setzte sich aus drei wesentlichen Elementen zusammen: dem Teambuilding (gruppendynamisches Kommunikationstraining), der Committee Work (Ausschussarbeit) und der General Assembly (parlamentarische Vollversammlung).  „Wir bedanken uns als Delegation für diese unglaublich anstrengende und fordernde, aber wunderschöne Erfahrung, die wir beim Europäischen Jugendparlament machen durften.“

„Das Teambuilding machte mit den netten Komiteekollegen und den freundesartigen Chairpersons sehr viel Spaß und stärkte die Kommunikation, die Akzeptanz jedes Einzelnen und das gegenseitige Interesse. So wurde die Komiteearbeit zu einer intensiven, produktiven und fröhlichen Zeit, die sich in der anschließenden General Assembly bezahlt machte.“

Participating for the first time: How a delegation experienced the Regional Selection Conference of the European Youth Parliament in Frankfurt 06.-09.04. 2017

The Participants,

1. Heavily impacted by the physical and mental exhaustion due to the lack of sleep and the intense workload,
2. Highlighting the officials’, especially the chairpersons’, amicable relationship with the delegates,
3. Further congratulating the officials on their outstanding organizational talent,
4. Positively affected by the variety of the expedient teambuilding activities, leading to the respectful interaction amongst the delegates and therefore creating a productive, accepting and relaxed atmosphere through all parts of the session,
5. Noting with regret the absence of a culture program and therefore missing the opportunity to experience Frankfurt as the financial core of the European Union,
6. Recognising the media team’s complex and decent work,
7. Having considered the uncertainty of insurance and responsibility of the delegates when leaving the property,
8. Alarmed by the group’s walking shifts being the delegates’ only possibility to leave the property and return to the rest location and therefore holding the delegates back from sleeping early,
9. Noting the available group showers only providing ice cold water,
10. Acknowledging the effort of the officials to provide healthy and delicious nutrition;

1. Have non the less been able to improve their English knowledge and grow as individuals;
2. Will miss the unique atmosphere that the EYP entails;
3. Felt like VIPs throughout the session;
4. Recommends to give the possibility to leave the property in smaller groups in order to experience the hosting city of EYP Germany or to return to the sleeping accommodation, respecting the declaration of consent signed by the parents;
5. Hope for warm water solution at future locations;
6. Encourage the officials to provide healthy and delicious nutrition further on and suggests a more generous supply of drinks;
7. Can now relive the whole experience in the National Selection Session in Wiesbaden, June 2017.
